Children
As children are developing, they often have difficulty using words to identify feelings, and instead communicate through behavior. At Jupiter Counseling Children and Families, we focus on therapeutic approaches that support children in their current developmental stage, engaging them through play, art, movement (kinesthetic), sensory, and music therapies. By providing a consistent and stable environment and using hands on activities, we help children learn how to explore their feelings and express themselves in a safe and healthy way.
Teens
Teens are developing a sense of self, navigating transitions in their lives, and establishing their role in society. It is important that teens are able to express their thoughts without feeling they are being judged or being overwhelmed by the problems they face. We focus on establishing trust and building rapport through shared activities and experiences that interest them, and provide creative avenues of self expression. By teaching and practicing healthy expressive outlets for thoughts and feelings, we strive to help teens build confidence and resilience.
Parents
It is important that parents are equipped with the skills and techniques needed to support their child, especially throughout the counseling process. Our goal is to help parents reengage with their children, have more open communication, and ensure that the child is receiving the same message from the counselor, parents, and educators. We achieve this by working with both parents and children, and making sure each family member receives the support they need, in order to bring families closer together.
